Opportunities for
tourism development
based on the resources of the Ipoly region
communities between Ipolyság and Szob.
The study examines the potential for tourism growth in the lower section of Ipoly, from Ipolyság to the estuary, and makes recommendations for resource utilisation.
It contains over 400 pages of information about the development projects and the analysis that supports their presence. The report concludes with a list of printed and electronic sources for secondary data and benchmark studies, which is excluded from the abstract.
The concept can serve as the foundation for future applications, and its implementation allows for collaboration among stakeholders in the target area to increase development and local prosperity.
Discusses potential responses to the major issues raised
– the increasing use of Ipoly for sports tourism (wild fi shing, game camping, the stress of water sports, and the harm caused by unorganised tourism (garbage, pollution) will precipitate irreversible natural processes,
– restricted tourism use of Ipoly, limiting mass tourism to protect the current environment,
– regulation of water sports tourism, fishing, and camping in particular (information, planning of ports and service
facilities, water blocks, and campsites, etc.) and creation of service services (common tables, maps, information materials).
